It was certainly an experience. No one looks at you strangely when you're setting up a tripod out on the hills. It's a bit different in town at night! Perhaps it would be worth taking someone with me next time.
Does anyone have any top tips for getting wonderful night images without being waylaid by footpads, ruffians and scoundrels?
